In 2025, every ada holder will be able to shape the future of Cardano. You will be able to vote to approve or reject certain actions. We're entering the era of governance.

 

As an ada holder, you have several options:

 

1) Become a direct voter

This way you are your own decision maker. You'd have to deposit 500 ada (refundable) and then vote on each proposal yourself.

 

2) Become a DRep

Same as above, but this way you also allow other people to delegate their voting power to you. DRep stands for Delegated Representative. Your voting power is stronger, it's a combination of all the people who have delegated to you + your own.

 

3) You can delegate your vote to a DRep.

You don't have time to find out everything that goes on in Cardano, but you still want to use your voting power. Then this is for you. You can find your DRep and delegate power to them. Please note that no ada ever leaves your wallet. It's just delegating, there are no locks or fees. People can do what they want with their ada, regardless of what the DReps do. Voting power is calculated at the end of every epoch (every 5 days).

 

4) Don't participate

Of course you don't have to, but I strongly encourage you to participate. Every small holder counts, your vote and your voice matters. Especially in 2025 when many great things will happen, I'm sure!
